Position Summary

The Cordes Laboratory in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry-Sci. is hiring a Research Technician, whose responsibilities will be to carry out research in protein evolution as well as manage lab operations.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Carry out molecular biology procedures such as cloning and mutagenesis; express and purify recombinant proteins.
  • Characterize structure and function of proteins using spectroscopic methods such as circular dichroism and fluorescence.
  • Manage ordering, inventory and day-to-day operations for the lab.
  • Ensure new researchers, including undergraduates, are trained in best lab practices and protocols.
  • Candidate will be expected to support diversity initiatives in the department and college.

Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment; OR, Four years research experience appropriate to the area of assignment; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in molecular biology and protein expression and purification is a plus.
