Position Summary

The Eller College of Management’s Online Undergraduate Program is seeking enthusiastic candidates with effective communication and attention to detail to join the team as an Academic Advisor II (Transfer Liaison) for our fully online undergraduate program. Each year, many students commit to transferring from community colleges to complete a bachelor’s degree in the Eller Undergraduate program. The advisor will provide these students a clear path to achieve academic success by evaluating transfer coursework and making recommendations for future coursework in preparation for transfer to the University of Arizona and Eller College. The advisor will represent Eller College Undergraduate Programs by attending events at community colleges and corporate partners with the goal of increasing enrollment of high-achieving prospective students. These transfer advising responsibilities will require off-campus travel to Maricopa country and throughout Arizona. The advisor will be responsible for ensuring enrollment growth amongst high-achieving transfer students through detailed administration, strategic planning, and collaboration with off-campus and on-campus partners. The advisor will implement and maintain a robust online orientation program to onboard newly admitted online students. They will also guide newly admitted students through registration and the first semester, making necessary notations to student’s academic records. They will collaborate with the University of Arizona admissions team to track interactions with prospective students and monitor progress through the various stages of admissions. The advisor will be expected to participate in professional development activities and other duties as assigned.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Academic Advisor II (Transfer Liaison) will:
• Advise transfer students on academic requirements and procedures associated with the pre-professional and professional phases of the Eller Undergraduate program.
• Evaluate course petitions and amendments to student’s program of study, monitor academic progress, maintain student files and records, and evaluate transfer transcripts for course equivalencies.
• Assist students with negotiating University and Eller College processes and procedures, including guidance through UA admissions, placement exams (math, writing, second language), financial aid, and other services.
• Lead efforts to increase applications from high-achieving prospective students including off-campus travel to strategic Arizona community college campuses, corporate partnership events, or other relevant recruiting events.
• Develop and facilitate presentations using various multimedia.
• Coordinate large and small informational sessions or events and evaluate effectiveness of these programs.
• Collaborate with the University of Arizona Admissions team by responding to inquiries related to transfer articulation from prospective online students.
• Onboard newly admitted Eller Online undergraduate students, in coordination with Eller Undergraduate programs team and the Eller e-Learning team, by offering an orientation program designed to ensure incoming online students receive necessary program information and appropriate first-term course registration.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

•Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two or more years of experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education.

•Possession of a valid Driver’s license is required upon first day of employment.

•Ability to travel regularly 2-4 times per month between Phoenix and Tucson.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous academic advising or other experience in higher education student services.
• Previous experience with online learners, community college students and/or non-traditional adult learners.
• Previous experience with tele-work.
• Recruiting and social media experience.
• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
• Experience using CRM software such as Slate or Salesforce.
