Position Summary

The Eller College of Management’s Undergraduate Program seeks candidates with effective communication and attention to detail to join the team as an Academic Advisor II (Success Coach) to support Business Administration major students enrolled in the fully online undergraduate program. This individual will provide academic advising and career coaching services; empowering students to achieve their academic and professional goals by building formative relationships with advisees. The advisor will serve students enrolled in the business administration major by conducting advising appointments, assisting with registration, and guiding students toward a timely graduation. The advisor will also develop and maintain a robust online orientation program to onboard newly admitted business administration majors. The advisor will serve as a frontline contact and campus concierge to help continuing online students to have a clear path to achieve academic success. The advisor will collaborate with Eller online instructors and campus partners to help monitor student’s engagement in their online coursework and utilize proactive interventions with at-risk students. The advisor will also collaborate with the Eller Professional Development Center staff to develop online professional development programming designed to meet the unique needs of business administration majors in Eller Online. They will be expected to participate in professional development activities and other duties as assigned.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Academic Advisor II (Online Business Administration Success Coach) will:
• Advise students on academic requirements and procedures associated with the pre-professional and professional phases of the Eller Undergraduate program.
• Evaluate course petitions and amendments to student’s program of study, monitor academic progress, maintain student files and records, and evaluate transfer transcripts for course equivalencies.
• Assist students with negotiating University and Eller College processes and procedures, including awareness of deadlines, letters and petitions, schedule changes, leaves of absences, academic probation, services related to special needs, etc.
• Maintain orientation program to ensure incoming students receive necessary and relevant information for their program.
• Coordinate enrollment for newly admitted and continuing students.
• Assess students’ professional skills and aspirations; use this data to plan for relevant professional opportunities, identify specific skills required, and help students obtain necessary skills needed for their desired post-graduate outcomes.
• Maintain online professional development course and monitor career outcomes of online graduates.
• Compile data for program assessment and reporting.
• Develop and facilitate presentations using various multimedia.
• Coordinate large and small informational sessions or workshops and evaluate effectiveness of these programs.
• Coordinate graduation events for Eller Online students, in coordination with Eller Undergraduate programs staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two or more years of experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous academic advising or other experience in higher education students services.
• Previous experience with online learners, community college students and/or non-traditional adult learners.
• Previous experience in a corporate or business environment.
• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
