The Director is responsible for creating a healthcare simulation learning environment within the Steele Innovative Learning Center (SILC) that is based on contemporary best practices, leading edge technology and the testing of new approaches. S/he will generate, direct, coordinate, and oversee all CON activities and assigned personnel for the SILC core facility and all sites deemed as SILC satellite sites, currently to include the interprofessional UA Health Sciences Innovation Building on the Tucson campus, and the UA Health Education Building on the UA Phoenix Biomedical Campus. The Director will collaborate with the UA College of Nursing Administrative Team, especially the Dean and Division Chairs/Director to generate and support simulated learning-related programming, acquisition and allocation of resources, donor-related development activities and ensure that leading-edge learning and healthcare technologies are advanced and new learning approaches tested.

The successful applicant will also hold a clinical, non-tenure track faculty position, in which rank will be determined by the faculty P&T committee and salary commensurate with experience and background.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Generate and implement SILC strategic initiatives/activities to serve the simulated learning needs within nursing and health degree and continuing education programs and in compliance within state and national professional regulations.
  • Work with the College Administrative Team to create and implement business plans directed toward the SILC being partially financially self-sustaining through external sources.
  • Engage in budget planning, advocacy and appropriate stewardship of resources.
  • Recruit, oversee and manage:
    – space and resources allocated to the SILC
    SILC-designated personnel
  • Liaison with other UAHS Colleges for interprofessional learning.
  • Represent the College in groups with an agenda to facilitate simulated learning across health science professions.
  • Lead faculty and staff development programs that advance contemporary and futuristic simulated learning knowledge and skills.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree, (DNP, PhD, EdD), in nursing or related field.
  • Three (3) or more years experience with simulation.
  • Requirement for a faculty appointment (rank to be determined).
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Arizona; OR Possess a temporary license from the Arizona State Board of Nursing to practice as a Registered Nurse, (In the latter case, a permanent license from the Arizona State Board of Nursing will be required within four (4) months of employment.)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification in Simulation.
  • Program Coordination experience.
  • Simulation development.
  • Virtual simulation scenario development.
  • Interprofessional simulation practice experience.
  • Strategic planning as it related to program coordination.
  • Management and budget experience.
