The Department of Systems and Industrial Engineering at The University of Arizona is seeking applications for a Lecturer for one course for 2018 Spring semester. The department is seeking an individual with a scholarly record that is active in research and interested in teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses in quality engineering, design of experiment, and engineering statistics, as well as to collaborate with faculty on research in a broad variety of areas.

The faculty member will teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels and contribute to mentoring students, including those from underrepresented backgrounds. The faculty member will also participate in outreach and contribute to departmental, college, and university service. In these and other ways, the faculty member will help to develop innovative approaches to enhancing student engagement, increasing diversity, and expanding collaborations with community and business partners.

Duties & Responsibilities

Teach SIE 465/565 to undergraduate and/or graduate students during the 2018 Spring semester in quality engineering, design of experiment, and engineering statistics. This course covers the fields of Systems and Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management, such as Supply Chain Management, Law for Scientists and Engineers, Technical Sales and Marketing, Reliability and Quality Engineering, Lean Operations and Manufacturing Systems, or Operations Research.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications

MS or equivalent in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related field and/or 5 years of experience in industry directly related to this class.

Experiences in teaching or teaching assistance, including excellent oral and written communication skills.
