Position Summary

This is an annually appointed, benefits eligible position in the University of Arizona Athletics Department Compliance Office. The prime function of this position is to administer the athletic department education and monitoring systems for NCAA and Pacific-12 Conference and Arizona Board of Regents regulations. The position reports directly to the Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance.

Duties & Responsibilities

*Contribute to creating and maintaining institutional control in all aspects of NCAA, Pacific-12 Conference, and University of Arizona Athletics rules compliance.
*Oversee the monitoring of recruiting activities including but not limited to: contacts, evaluations, telephone calls and individual recruiting records.
*Work with all sports and staff regarding compliance-related issues and interpretations, including but not limited to amateurism, eligibility, awards and playing and practice seasons.
*Administer all aspects of Bylaw 17 across all sports with an emphasis on time management plans, countable athletically-related activities and playing season regulations.
*Develop and operate recruiting monitoring systems and databases.
*Assist in the initial eligibility process for prospective student-athletes.
*Monitor functions associated with official visits including pre-visit requirements, travel, expenses, visit-related activities and complimentary admissions.
*Monitor functions associated with unofficial visits including pre-visit requirements, visit-related activities and complimentary admissions.
*Monitor high school and two-year college coach complimentary admissions.
*Manage the designation and monitoring of playing and practice seasons.
*Coordinate annual NCAA and institutional student-athlete paperwork.
*Other duties may be assigned by the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance.
*Duties may be adjusted based upon the expertise that the successful candidate presents.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree
Extensive experience with and knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
Excellent communication skills
Advanced proficiencies working with JumpForward
Ability and desire to accurately perform detail-oriented tasks and work with basic office software and database programs
Competent with computer software, such as Microsoft Office, Internet and e-mail

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree
Four years of experience working in an NCAA compliance environment
Significant experience monitoring elite student-athletes and monitoring nationally-ranked sports programs
Previous responsibilities associated with creating and monitoring time management plans
