Position Summary

The College of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS) is accepting applications for an Accountant, Senior in the School of Government & Public Policy (SGPP). This position dual reports to the Assistant Dean of Business & Finance of SBS and the Director of SGPP. The successful candidate will assist with the management of the unit’s accounting, budgeting, auditing and other financial or related functions to ensure the financial integrity of the School of SGPP.

Business personnel in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences work to provide excellent business support to administrators, faculty, staff, and students. They work in a collaborative environment to improve reporting, processes, and customer service. A successful candidate has a high level of technical competency, dedication to a team approach, accuracy of work, timeliness, and excellent communication skills.

Duties & Responsibilities

Works as part of the staff of the business center to perform all day-to-day business functions in the School of Government & Public Policy including, but not limited to, disbursements, account maintenance and reconciliation, procurement, fund transfers, and purchasing card transactions.
• Completes personnel hiring, job and employee data changes, leaves and termination processing, etc.
• Performs payroll activities.
• Performs UA Foundation financial activities.
• Establishes efficient business practices and keeps informed on all rules, regulations, policies, systems, and procedures.
• Prepares and reconciles financial reports and budget projections.
• Tracks expenditures and funding according to budget.
• Maintains proper accounting records for all transactions.
• Provides budget information and status to Faculty, Students, and Staff.
• Fiscal Officer responsibilities on assigned accounts.
• Other duties as assigned

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting AND three years of professional accounting experience; OR, Seven years progressively responsible and diverse accounting experience and coursework which included at least three years professional accounting in which a broad exposure to all areas of accounting and accounting principles, practices and procedures was acquired; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience utilizing financial processing and data management systems.
• Experience with University systems, policies and procedures.
