Title Assistant Research Scientist (Multiple Positions)
Department Chemistry & Biochemistry - Sci (2536)
Location Main Campus
Position Summary

The Marty laboratory (http://marty.lab.arizona.edu/) in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry-Sci. at the University of Arizona is seeking an Assistant Research Scientist to perform research studying membrane proteins. We are particularly interested in studying the structural and functional implications of membrane protein-lipid interactions. This position will involve development of new biochemical and biophysical methods, especially using mass spectrometry, to study membrane proteins and lipids- especially employing Nanodiscs and other membrane mimetics. This research will employ a range of bioanalytical methods, including native mass spectrometry, proteomics, and traditional structural biology tools. We are looking for an independent, efficient, and creative researcher to get new projects off the ground. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the research, we are willing to consider candidates from broad backgrounds ranging from molecular biology to analytical chemistry, but extra consideration will be given for candidates with experience in membrane protein expression and purification, native mass spectrometry, or structural proteomics.

The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry (CBC) is a university-wide department with faculty and staff in both the College of Science and the College of Medicine. This unique organizational structure provides synergistic opportunities for faculty and students who are pursuing their educational and research goals across the broad range of subdisciplines represented in CBC. Together with the dual college affiliation, and the multitude of degree offerings, CBC is truly a department on the cutting edge.
