Position Summary

The School of Animal & Biomedical Sciences at The University of Arizona is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate I in the laboratory of Dr. Zelieann R. Craig. Dr. Craig studies the effects of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) on ovarian function to elucidate molecular and cellular mechanisms that cause reproductive toxicity.

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, productive scientist with strong experimental and communication skills who is also able to work independently or with a team to solve problems caused by EDCs. We especially encourage applications from individuals with experience in bioinformatics using RNA sequencing and/or proteomic approaches.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Design, plan, and execute experiments consistent with the laboratory’s mission and funding.
  • Data acquisition and analysis, grant and manuscript preparation, and presentation of findings at weekly lab meetings and scientific conferences
  • Coordinate with other investigators on research projects including maintaining laboratory equipment, managing laboratory resources and records (including methodological approaches and animal protocols), and ensuring compliance with university requirements.
  • Training undergraduate and graduate students
  • Duties may be re-assigned based on performance and research programmatic needs.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Laboratory animal handling and management experience
  • Practical knowledge for molecular techniques that measure RNA, DNA, and protein
  • Statistical analysis
  • Experience designing figures and presenting findings orally or in writing at conferences or for manuscripts
  • Ability to work in a team while at the same time designing and independently completing experiments
  • Ability to train undergraduate and/or graduate students in the laboratory
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in the biological and/or biomedical sciences
  • Record of productivity (first-authorship on peer-reviewed publications, presentations at national/international scientific conferences)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with in vivo and in vitro reproductive biology techniques
  • Experience with RNAseq and/or proteome profiling data acquisition and analysis
  • Experience with histological processing of tissue samples
