Position Summary

The University of Arizona Cancer Center (UACC) is a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center dedicated to the prevention and cure of cancer through patient care, research, and education.

These Research Specialist positions will provide dedicated clinical trials support for clinical trials at the University of Arizona Cancer Center/North campus. This position works closely with clinical faculty and their disease team.

The selected employees will have regular contact with investigators, regulatory staff, clinical trials sponsors (e.g. private industry and national cooperative groups), and administrative staff.

Candidates will have or develop a knowledge base of the disease areas assigned and current management principles and will be able to serve in a consulting role to new faculty and staff regarding policies and procedures for clinical research.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide coordination of protocols and data for assigned clinical trials.
  • Provide current protocol and research subject information to healthcare professionals in order to ensure comprehensive patient care and protocol compliance.
  • Direct, monitor and participate in research activities including, but not limited to pre-screening, consent, subject data collection, data entry, query resolution, and evaluation and analysis for research projects.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions to members of the Centralized Cancer Clinical Trials Unit management to ensure adequate infrastructure to carry out clinical research objectives.
  • Direct, monitor, and participate in research activities including pre-screening, consent, data collection, data entry, query resolution, evaluation and analysis for research projects.
  • Participate in the preparation and execution of routine monitoring visits and audits.
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure protocol compliance, exceptional source documentation, and timely and accurate reporting of data and adverse events.
  • Promptly and accurately input data, as appropriate, into the clinical trials management system, the electronic health record, and other systems as required.
  • Serve as a liaison between the disease team and study sponsor to foster productive relationships.
  • Assist in organizing and actively participating in bi-monthly (every two weeks) disease team meetings.
  • Actively participating in unit team meetings.
  • Other pertinent duties as assigned.

Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND two years related research experience; OR, Six years research experience appropriate to the area of assignment; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Spanish speaking.
  • Previous work in clinical research and/or oncology research.
