Position Summary

Are you a highly motivated individual? If you answered “Yes”, then apply to join a team-oriented lab carrying out research in the areas of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) and acute lung injury, oxidative stress, aging, mechanisms of age-dependent injury-repair responses, and drug discovery/pre-clinical development of novel drug candidates in the University of Arizona Pulmonary division. This Postdoctoral Research Associate position involves training in, and implementation of, our cutting-edge drug development research efforts and the use of novel cell/animal models, and testing of novel drug candidates. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing and driving innovative research projects, performing cellular/molecular biology and animal experiments, and manuscript writing.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • High level scientific writing skills.
  • High level of organizational skills.
  • Design, perform, and analyze independent research related to existing and new projects.
  • Maintain detailed records of studies conducted, organize data and prepare data for manuscript submissions.
  • Conduct tissue cell culture work and testing of experimental drugs in cells and mice.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Demonstrate track record of ability to drive projects.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Possess skills of integrity, perseverance, and flexibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in the laboratory setting and generate reliable data.
  • Experience with cell/molecular biology techniques.
  • Experience with animal models of lung injury.
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD degree in the field appropriate to the area of assignment
  • At least 1 years’ experience in molecular and cellular biology techniques to study pulmonary disease.
  • At least 2 years mouse research experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with biochemical assay, regenerative biology and preclinical drug development.
