Position Summary

The Committee on Inclusive Excellence (CIE) within the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health (MEZCOPH). The Research Specialist will report to the Co-Chairs of the CIE and is responsible for assisting in developing and managing the evaluation of the CIE plan. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with other CIE members. The candidate should be familiar with strategies used at institutions of higher learning to improve inclusive excellence, diversity, and equity.

This is an extended temporary job with an intended start date of 1/8/18 and concludes 1/7/19 , contingent on funding.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist the Co-Chairs with the development, coordination and implementation of evaluation plan across MEZCOPH.
  • Coordinate the development of a tracking system and data for achieving specific objectives of the MEZCOPH IE plan.
  • Write progress reports on the status of objectives and submit to CIE monthly.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a MEZCOPH climate survey.
  • Assist in the analysis and write-up of the survey results.
  • Develop material for presentations at the College and University level.
  • Coordinate members of the CIE committee to ensure implementation of CIE plan goals.
  • Prepare correspondence, including meeting agendas, minutes, and records of project activities and related data.
  • Coordinate logistics, communications, and schedules for committee-related meetings.
  • Maintain cooperative relationships with the members of ODI and other administrative and academic departments.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills-proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people, ranging from students, faculty, and administrators.
  • Knowledge of organizational practices.
  • Skilled in organizing and coordinating individual work and the work of others.
  • Ability to discuss sensitive topics with a wide range of individuals with a variety of backgrounds in IE.
  • Ability to manage and update content on an existing webpage.

Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND two years related research experience; OR, Six years research experience appropriate to the area of assignment; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
