Position Summary

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) at The University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix is seeking candidates for the Coordinator, Diversity & Inclusion Outreach position. This team member will work closely with faculty, students and staff to collaborate and support various initiatives for recruitment, retention and inclusivity building. This new position will assist in the coordination of initiatives, which requires previous program management experience.. The Coordinator should be process oriented, resilient with strong service skills and a professional manner. Experience collecting and organizing data to support planning and program development is critical.

Duties & Responsibilities

Recruitment

Recruitment Support:

  • Assist in strategizing and implementing a comprehensive recruitment plan for Undergraduate Medical School Recruitment, Graduate Professional School Recruitment, Faculty Recruitment and Staff Recruitment. In collaboration with ODI leadership, and the Offices of Admissions and Recruitment, Graduate Education, Faculty Affairs and Development and Human resources, support strategizing and implementing the comprehensive recruitment plan to attract highly qualified diverse applicants and candidates to the College of Medicine – Phoenix via special programs and recruitment activities.

Retention & Inclusivity Building

  • Collaborate with medical student individuals and groups to facilitate special programs, activities and events that foster student engagement and an inclusive environment. Collaborate with faculty, house staff and various department to facilitate special programs and activities and events that foster faculty engagement and an inclusive environment at the College of Medicine – Phoenix.
  • Coordinate, develop, implement and evaluate Brown Bag Lunch seminars with faculty, staff and medical students covering topics related to Diversity and Inclusion, and Coffee Hours with medical students and ODI as an informal gathering to touch base with students.
  • Coordinate, implement and evaluate Town Halls, Healthcare Week, Med Safe Zone and other special events. For Med Safe Zone will coordinate the development and assist in the implementation of the presentations to increase cultural competency working with the LGBTQ+ patient populations.
  • Provide individual medical student assistance for navigating issues and concerns and assist students in building relationships with ODI. Interface with students, faculty and staff to enhance and build relationships with ODI.

Minimum Qualifications

At least seven (7) years equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved; OR, Bachelor’s Degree and three (3) years or related experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience supporting projects or managing complex schedules.
  • Experience providing excellent customer service (hospitality, tourism, service industries)
