Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Program Marketing challenges the status quo and offers new ideas and techniques to improve marketing and communications outcomes for multiple programs at the Eller College of Management. He/she embraces new ideas, is innovative, anticipates future needs, shares knowledge and teaches others to do the same. It is an expectation that the Assistant Director is a strong communicator and collaborative partner, able to work up, down and across the college.


This position, reporting to the Assistant Dean of Marketing and Communications and serving as part of an in-house agency for the Eller College of Management, oversees marketing efforts for degree programs at the Eller College, leading and executing differentiated campaigns and initiatives that drive enrollment, enhance awareness and reputation and contribute to the overall success of the Eller College of Management.


The Assistant Director of Program Marketing is expected to partner collaboratively with key leaders in degree programs to contribute to the overall success of lead generation and nurturing efforts for prospective students and applicants. The Assistant Director of Program Marketing works closely with content and creative teams internally and externally and supports the execution of an integrated marketing and communications strategy for degree programs.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Cross-promoting programs to encourage collaboration between academic departments and support enrollment goals.
  • Expanding and positioning the Eller brand in key markets.
  • Utilizing data to develop strategies and insights throughout the student lifecycle.
  • Working within tight deadlines and budgets.
  • Conducting meetings with internal clients to identify marketing needs.
  • Developing, implementing and analyzing digital and print marketing strategies, both paid and organic.
  • Collaborating closely with the other members of the Eller MarComm team to successfully deploy campaigns and initiatives.
  • Managing third-party vendors for media buying, digital strategies and design needs including internal and external resources that execute and optimize marketing campaigns.
  • Understanding and adapting to challenges facing higher education.
  • Adhering to UA brand standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics, HootSuite, email marketing tactics, lead funnel development and digital advertising.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and general design principles helpful.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a professional team, fulfilling obligations to other team members, being positive and supportive of others and complying with policies, procedures and goals of the team and college.
  • Flexible, creative thinker open to new ideas and changing priorities within a fast-paced organization.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Ability to think and act both analytically and strategically.
  • Working knowledge of marketing automation and CRM tools and strategy to achieve lead generation and lead nurture goals.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a field such as communication, advertising, marketing or public relations or a related field; AND
  • Seven years of experience in a related field with demonstrated record of progressive responsibility; AND
  • Proven ability to work with vendors and agencies to produce results; this may include digital agencies, creative agencies, designers and sales partners.

  • Equivalent education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in a related field.
  • Experience with higher education initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success in development and execution of strategic marketing plans and programs that leverage a range of outbound and inbound strategies as well as a variety of channels.
  • Experience using SalesForce.
