Position Summary

The Department of Computer Science is seeking individuals to take a leadership role in curriculum development and teach undergraduate computer science courses. As of Fall 2017, the Department of Computer Science at the University of Arizona has 26 faculty members. The Department has a long history of research accomplishment, influential software distribution, and excellent undergraduate and graduate instruction. Current research and teaching areas span most core areas of Computer Science. The Department of Computer Science supports the UA’s diversity and inclusiveness strategic initiatives designed to create an inclusive environment for all faculty, staff, and students. The candidate is expected to support diversity and inclusiveness efforts in the department and college.

This is a non-tenure eligible position.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Takes a leadership role in development of the computer science curriculum.
  • Teach undergraduate computer science courses during the academic year. The typical teaching load is 4 courses per year; however, factors such as large class size may reduce that load.
  • Manage graduate TAs and undergraduate preceptors who assist with courses.
  • Serve on departmental committees as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D in Computer Science or a closely related discipline; or, in exceptional cases an MS with significant related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching experience at the university level.
