Position Summary

The Molecular and Cellular Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (MCEEB)
Business Center is seeking applicants for the position of Accountant to
complement our existing business staff. The Center supports two
distinguished College of Science academic research units with a combined
annual expenditure volume of just over $20M and a combined payroll of
+400 employees.

The successful candidate will join the business team and perform a variety
of duties related to financial services, accounting and travel. This position
requires strong knowledge of financial processes, procedures and general accounting.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Comprehensive account support for an assigned group of faculty.
  • Reconciling financial information and preparing and interpreting fin ancial
    reports.
  • Using Analytics to create and maintain account queries for use in
    reconciliation and for special projects.
  • Creating and maintaining account file s, updating account lists, forms and
    support material.
  • Preparing travel authorizations and expenses reports for complex
    domestic and international travel including reconciling travel advances.
  • Troubleshooting order discrepancies.
  • Reconciling P-card transactions
  • Ad hoc projects and other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • Knowledge of accounting practices, procedures and generally accepted
    accounting principles.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Access and Word.
  • Strong communication skills both oral and written.
Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting AND three years of professional accounting experience; OR, Seven years progressively responsible and diverse accounting experience and coursework which included at least three years professional accounting in which a broad exposure to all areas of accounting and accounting principles, practices and procedures was acquired; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with UA Enterprise Systems: Analytics, Financials, Student
    and Employee and with Razors Edge.
