Position Summary

Nutritional Sciences is seeking an inquisitive, well-organized, and highly motivated person to work on projects investigating salivary gland function. The successful candidate will work independently conducting a diverse range of activities from laboratory management to participating in experiments utilizing variety of molecular biology techniques.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist PI with experimental procedures utilizing the listed techniques:
    immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, immunoblotting, RT/qPCR, FACS analysis, mouse dissections, in vivo procedures (injections, radiation, and saliva collections) and genotyping genetically engineered mice.
  • Assist in administrative and maintenance duties involved in general laboratory management such as bookkeeping, ordering supplies, preparation of solutions, maintain laboratory compliance
  • Manage genetically engineered mouse model colony including husbandry and facilitating the transition to various projects within the lab.
  • Assist PI in preparation of manuscripts, figures, and grant applications
  • Maintain detailed records of experimental procedures and analysis of results for presentation purposes.
  • Assist PI in preparation of animal protocols and IACUC compliance
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures as needed
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND two years related research experience; OR, Six years research experience appropriate to the area of assignment; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrate ability for technical accuracy
Demonstrated knowledge of modern research methods in molecular biology
Demonstrated capabilities for analyzing and evaluating data
Experience with animal husbandry
Strong organizational, critical thinking and follow-through skills
Excellent communication skills
