The Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine has established research excellence in multiple disciplines. We are searching for a motivated, independent individual to assist in research projects aimed at investigating the role of giant proteins in skeletal and cardiac muscle health and disease.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Protein expression analysis (titin gels, Western blotting, etc).
  • Assist with muscle mechanics research (multiple organizational levels from whole muscle to single molecules).
  • Contribute to managing and phenotyping mouse colonies in accordance with the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) standards, including collection of tissues.
  • Maintain a detailed laboratory notebook.
  • Train other laboratory staff in the proper use of equipment and experimental procedures.
  • Perform general duties including the preparation of solutions and inventory/ordering of supplies.
  • Consult with the PI and other researchers in the lab on the development of general approaches, protocols, and interpretation of results as needed.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as it relates to this position.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in the laboratory setting and generate reliable data.
  • Ability to perform detailed experimental procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment; OR, Four years research experience appropriate to the area of assignment; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
