We are currently seeking a disciplined individual to work within the Operating Funds area of the Financial Services Office. The successful candidate will be required to exhibit professional and competent knowledge of accounting principles and practices, spreadsheets and databases. They will be required to exercise discretion and creativity on assignments of a varied and diverse nature, embrace FSO’s values and demonstrate a willingness to apply these values in their work and their interactions with others.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Interprets accounting data, analyzes reports and recommends action to be taken.
  • Provides solutions to problems presented by University departments and recommends changes to accounting systems, methods or procedures, utilizing knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Participates in monthly and quarterly transaction and balance reviews, including contacting departments for explanations, arranging for corrective action, and documenting results.
  • Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, State regulations and University policies.
  • Assists in the preparation, review and analysis of various financial reports and reconciliations, including annual audit work papers, quarterly financial statements and monthly reports.
  • The candidate is expected to support diversity and inclusiveness efforts in the department and college.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Skill in performing detailed numerical computations.
  • Skill in preparing detailed reports on a timely basis.
  • Ability to learn and work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment where job duties change and new procedures are initiated.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures.
  • Skill in the use of computer hardware and software including MS Excel, Word and Access.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related area with accounting course work AND one year of professional accounting experience; OR, five years of progressively responsible and diverse accounting experience and course work, which includes at least one year of professional accounting, in which a broad exposure to all areas of accounting and accounting principles, practices and procedures was acquired; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of UAccess Financials
  • Strong knowledge of spreadsheet and database applications such as MS Excel and MS Access
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
