Position Summary

The Department of Pharmacology’s mission is to provide quality pre-clinical and clinical education in pharmacology and therapeutics for medical students, to educate and train graduate and postdoctoral biomedical scientists, to carry out basic research of recognized excellence, and to participate in governance and leadership in the College of Medicine at The University of Arizona and in appropriate national scientific and professional societies.

The ideal Research Specialist candidate must have experience in techniques related to handling of live animals, and be comfortable in learning to perform in vivo behavioral assays, stereotaxic surgery, and data analysis.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform in vivo behavioral assays.
  • Complete stereotaxic surgery.
  • Complete data analysis.
  • Independently review professional literature.
  • Train students in behavioral assays.
  • There may be additional duties assigned as it relates to this position.

Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND two years related research experience; OR, Six years research experience appropriate to the area of assignment; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
