Position Summary

We are accepting applications for Assistant Research Scientist in the laboratory of Dr. Heidi Mansour in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science at the University of Arizona. The area of research focuses on in vitro cell culture, microscopy, bioanalysis of biosamples from animal studies, in silico computer modeling of therapeutic peptide/proteins, and formulation engineering design/drug delivery.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Formulation engineering design, comprehensive biophysical characterization, and targeted drug delivery systems.
  • In vitro human cell culture.
  • In vivo preclinical PK/PD in animal models.
  • In vivo preclinical drug disposition evaluation in animal models.
  • Bioanalysis of biosamples from in vivo animal studies.
  • In silico pharmacokinetics (PK)/pharmacodynamics (PD) computational modeling.
  • Work with Pharmaceutical Sciences graduate student researchers, Pharm.D. student researchers, and biomedical chemical engineering graduate students.
  • Assist in editorial reviewing drafts of abstracts/manuscripts/posters from group members.
  • Present at research at team meetings, group meetings, and scientific conferences.
  • Write and publish papers in high quality scientific journals.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Skills in formulation design, development, characterization, stability, and nanoformulation.
  • Fundamental and advanced applied knowledge of targeted drug delivery systems by different routes of administration.
  • Knowledge of analytical and bioanalytical methods.
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences (Molecular Pharmaceutics/Drug Delivery/Pharmacokinetics) or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in formulation design, characterization, fundamental and various forms of applied pharmaceutics/advanced drug delivery.
