Position Summary

Under general supervision, coordinates specialized activities for a scientific archive to provide access to information and references, which may include using a specialized subject or language. Coordinates the work of others, including student employees. Assists in any aspect of curatorial operations as required such as collections processing, preparation of objects for storage, and cataloging. Other duties as assigned by the curator.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Participates in cross-functional, regularly recurring, complex assignments such as cataloging, reference, document delivery or vendor relations.
• Trains students and/or assists in training staff in assigned area.
• Initiates problem solving by facilitating group efforts at process improvement, coordinating and facilitating meetings, making formal and informal presentations and collecting data based on technical expertise.
• Collects, enters and reports data as assigned.
• Assists with processing collections including registering, accessioning, cataloging, packing, unpacking, maintaining inventory and documentation.
• Assists in maintaining collections database through data entry and editing.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Knowledge of basic data collection and information research methods.
• Knowledge and skill in documentation of objects, storage and preparation of archival spaces
• Skill in following directions accurately.
• Ability to effectively communicate.

Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree AND two years related library experience; OR six years related library experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in the LTRR curation program;
• Two years of general museum activities experience;OR,
• Masters degree in relevant field.
• Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.


• Specific knowledge of the following desired: dendrochronological research, LTRR cataloging and accession standards/programs; ICMS cataloging standards; Tellervo.
