Position Summary

The Department Chair, Health Promotion Sciences, seeks a professional and energetic individual to fill the position of part time Lecturer. The successful candidate will provide academic support to the Department’s education programs in Family and Child Health (FCH) and Health Behavior/Health Promotion (HBHP). The position reports directly to the Department Chair for day-to-day duties. The Department Chair will create the position’s annual work plan and complete an annual performance review in conjunction with input from the Academic Program Directors.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Teach 2-3 public health courses each semester. Face to Face and possible online courses.
  • Advise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Supervise internship projects and serve on internship committees.
  • Work with education Program Directors to prioritize activities in support of the Department’s teaching mission.
  • Coordinate development of certificate, on-line and regular course offerings.
  • Participate in Department and College meetings.
  • There may be additional duties assigned as it relates to this position.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • Masters in Public Health degree or related health science discipline.
  • Prior experience in a public health instructional environment.
Preferred Qualifications

Ability to teach :

  • Community Based Participatory Action to Decrease Health Disparities.
  • Qualitative Researching Methods in Public Health.
  • Doctoral Public Health Leadership for Health Equity.
  • or Contemporary Issues and Health and Research.
  • Doctorate degree in Public Health or related disciplines.
  • Documentation of effective instruction at the undergraduate or graduate level (independent face to face and/or online teaching)

Experience or scholarship in:

  • Community-based participatory research/action research.
  • Applied qualitative methodology.
  • Leadership/professional development.
