Position Summary

Facilities Management is looking for a career minded, hard working, Trades Helper to be part of an amazing team. The Trades Helper will assist with job set up and various other duties for the Sheet Metal, Welding, and Machine Shop. The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively and provide good customer service.

NOTE: All maintenance employees are required to drive University vehicles on a daily basis as one of their primary job functions.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assists sheet metal, welding and machine shops with daily activites on assigned jobs.
  • Assists with collecting and delivering materials and/or equipment needed at the job sites.
  • Cleans and/or performs minor repairs on equipment.
  • Assists in fabrication of welding and sheet metal ducts.
  • Assists in installation of ductwork.
  • Performs clean-up activities as jobs are completed and in shop areas.
  • Assists in shop vehicle maintenance.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s license upon employment.
  • At least two years of licensed driving experience.
  • 1 year welding experience
Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Completion of one year of vocational training; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately read a tape measure.
  • Mechanical experience in the areas of HVAC, ductwork, welding, or machine shop.
  • Experience using hand held and power tools.
  • Fabrication and/or installation experience.
