Position Summary

UA Online seeks an Assistant Director, Online Student Success (ADOSS) to join its growing team dedicated to increasing educational access to one of the top 100 universities in the world. The ADOSS will promote retention initiatives across Undergraduate and Graduate programs within the UA Online campus, working with Student Academic Success Specialists across various degree programs to provide best-in-class support to students earning their degrees remotely. The ADOSS will have a combination of both direct and dotted-line reports, reflecting influence across campus as we continue to craft strategies to support graduation of fully online students. This position maps to the Assistant Director, Academic Advising position in the advisory job track.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Support the hiring and training of academic advising staff working with fully online Undergraduate and graduate students
• Identify contributing factors to student retention issues; collaborate with institutional partners to seek remedies and solutions to improve processes for an online student population (examples may include: Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid, Registrar’s Office, Campus Bookstore, etc.)
• Through use of UAccess Analytics reporting and Civitas Illume, develop proactive interventions to support retention and graduation of fully online students
• Collaborate robustly across college partners, including with Associate Deans, faculty and staff to identify and respond to specific retention needs for individual programs
• Develop ongoing training, knowledge sharing, and best practices between advisors
• Develops resources to increase advising effectiveness and efficiency for fully online learners
• Oversee online population student communications through Slate CRM; monitor student engagement with communications
• In partnership with The Office of Digital Learning and individual academic programs, create engaging onboarding experiences (orientations) for new incoming students
• Represent UA Online in multiple campus conversations and with various stakeholders, including: advising councils, student support services, Academic Initiatives and Student Success, institutional project teams, Office of Digital Learning

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in a related field
• 4+ years of experience working in a student advisement setting; preferably with adult and/or fully online learners
