Position Summary

The Department of Medicine and the Division of Pulmonary is seeking a Research Technician. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual that wants to join a team-oriented lab carrying out research in the area of Lung Fibrosis (IPF) and drug discovery in the University of Arizona Pulmonary department. This position would involve training in and implementation of our cutting-edge drug development project. This opportunity is ideal for a recent college graduate interested in pursuing a career in science or medicine, or an individual interested in a long-term career as a Research Technician. Basic cellular/molecular biology experience is required, such as western blotting, protein expression, protein purification, etc.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Conduct cell isolation and cell culture experiments, including drug screening.
  • Work with mice and/or performing animal studies including testing of experimental design.
  • Conduct assays and molecular biology experiments including western immunoblotting, and assays for detection of senescence, apoptosis, and collagen.
  • Maintain detailed records of studies conducted, organize data, and prepare data for manuscript submissions.
  • Order supplies as needed.
  • Assist with writing detailed protocols.
  • Assist with writing of manuscripts.

Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment; OR, Four years research experience appropriate to the area of assignment; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with animal care protocol writing.
  • Molecular and cellular biology experience.
