Position Summary

The Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology at the University of Arizona seeks candidates for a post-doctoral Research Associate position in the bioinformatics of the biochemical properties of genes of different evolutionary ages.

Duties & Responsibilities

Postdoc will work with PI Dr Joanna Masel at the University of Arizona to build pipelines for phylostratigraphy and the assignment of genes to homologous families, perform ancestral sequence reconstruction, port macroevolutionary techniques for studying speciation and extinction to the study of gene duplication and loss, perform sophisticated statistical tests, and produce manuscripts for publication.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications

PhD in a related area, with experience in bioinformatics and statistics. Strong programming skills with knowledge of Python and R, together with solid quantitative abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Evolutionary biology experience strongly preferred.
