Position Summary

The Asthma & Airway Disease Research Center (A2DRC) is recruiting an Assistant Research Scientist who will develop and participate in research initiatives. The center is seeking an individual who is able to work with diverse students, trainees and colleagues, and who has or is willing to develop experience with a variety of teaching methods and curricular perspectives. The successful candidate will conduct cutting edge research based on single cell approaches to pursue the characterization of gene regulatory networks in studies of human complex diseases, with specific emphasis on airway disease. This research will be critical to the University’s efforts to advance multidisciplinary programs in translational pharmacogenomics, pharmacology, bioinformatics and statistical genomics.

The successful applicant must also meet requirements for a faculty appointment as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine (CMM).

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Establish a successful research program that will advance knowledge about the genetics, genomics and regulation of human complex diseases, with specific emphasis on airway disease, focusing at the single cell level.
  • Develop and sustain productive interactions with biomedical investigators seeking to integrate single cell chromatin and gene expression studies into complex disease research on both human and animal models.
  • Promote and strengthen interdisciplinary training and education in genetics and genomics.
  • There may be additional duties assigned as it relates to this position.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD or MD in related area.
  • At least five years of experience in genomic research with both animal and human models.
  • Strong history of peer-reviewed publications.
