Position Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Marketing & Communications, the Information Specialist (Internal AZPM Title: Social Media Editor) will assist in the posting of social media content for Arizona Public Media (AZPM) television and radio programming, AZPM events, and other needs as they arise. The Social Media Editor will work closely with the AZPM Marketing Specialist and Promotion Coordinator, as well as members of the newsroom and production teams. The Social Media Editor will also stay abreast of social media best practices and work with the Director of Marketing & Communications and other members of the digital marketing team to grow AZPM’s social media footprint across a variety of social media platforms.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assists in creating social media content for AZPM programming and events on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other platforms as needed.
  • Works with NPR 89.1 news, Metro Week, Arizona Week, Arizona Illustrated, and Arizona Spotlight to create posts to engage audiences on various social media platforms.
  • Works with the Director of Marketing & Communications, Marketing Specialist, Promotion Coordinator, and others as assigned to develop and execute AZPM’s social media strategy.
  • Must be available to work and post from AZPM events.
  • Tracks social media engagement and creates engagement reports.
  • In addition to written posts and photo posts, will also be expected to occasionally create infographic posts and video posts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Possesses sound editorial judgment.
  • Works well individually and in a team format.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress atmosphere and perform duties under deadlines.
  • Must have strong organizational skills, be able to meet deadlines, have strong attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or related field AND two years of public information writing experience; OR, six years of progressively responsible public information writing experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
