Position Summary

This position will be located in Duncan, Arizona and will provide programming for the 4-H Youth Development programs for Greenlee County. The position is half-time (0.5 FTE). The Program Coordinator will work closely with the County Director to identify and create opportunities for 4-H members, adult leaders and other youth in the county. Programs will emphasize personal growth, leadership development and skill development of youth and adult volunteers. This position provides the youth in the county with non-formal educational opportunities designed to help them develop into productive and engaged citizens. This position works with both traditional club and non-traditional youth programs. Support and training for volunteer leaders and management of the 4-H club program are included.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Promote and strengthen 4-H Youth programs through 4-H clubs, after school programs, short term/special interest programs, and/or school enrichment efforts.
• Develop and facilitate workshops and meetings; coordinates logistics, scheduling and participant communications.
• Evaluate program effectiveness to develop improved methods; devise evaluation methodology and implement; analyze results and recommend and/or take appropriate action.
• Recruit program participants, members and volunteers utilizing most appropriate promotional or marketing methods, such as individual letters, brochures or presentations at meetings.
• Prepare periodic reports, financial statements and records on program activities, progress, status or other special reports for management or outside agencies.
• Effectively communicate verbally, via email, voicemail, and social media as well as in writing and in person.
• Monitor and approve program expenditures ensuring that budget allocations are not overspent.
• Interact and maintain liaison with faculty, staff and outside/community agencies in facilitating program objectives.
• May coordinate, monitor or supervise the activities of AmeriCorps volunteers.
• Prepare or assist in preparation of proposal for funding and/or funding continuation from outside sponsors.
• Work evenings and weekends as needed to expand reach.
• Travel in local and surrounding communities and occasional long distance travel is required as a regular part of this position.
• There may be additional duties assigned as it relates to this position.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications

• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND two years of administrative/coordinative program experience; OR, six years of progressively responsible administrative coordinative program experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of issues pertaining to area of assignment.
• Skill in the use of personal computers and software.
• Ability to problem solve and make decisions.
• Training or teaching skills.
• Knowledge of organizational and supervisory practices.
• Experience in volunteer management.
• Experience with the 4-H Youth Development program.
• Ability to effectively communicate.
