Position Summary

The UA College of Medicine – Phoenix is currently seeking applicants for an Application Systems Support Analyst, Senior who is responsible for providing technical support to a critical client/server application that is a key component of the College curriculum. This technical position will help ensure the server application is optimized and the Window’s clients are operating efficiently. This role will work closely with the application vendor to resolve technical issues and plan for all future initiatives. Work with clients to maximize system usage and functionality to achieve all operational objectives. This role will be the Subject Matter Expert and provide on-going training to staff, faculty and students.

The incumbent will work closely with other teams to support all associated equipment such as printers, audio and video equipment. The incumbent must have the ability to work in a fast-paced, highly visible environment with a sense of urgency.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Consults with users regarding applications programming requests, applications training, user support and troubleshooting. Analyzes user applications programming requests related to overall program goals and system functionality and recommends solutions.
  • Develops functional and technical documentation and test plans.
  • Conducts document and applications tests, evaluates results in accordance with quality assurance standards and writes test reports.
  • Researches, evaluates, recommends and uses emerging and/or relevant methodologies and technologies.
  • Implements and maintains compliance with current security and service protocols and standards.
  • May manage projects of limited scope or portions of large/complex projects.

  • Knowledge of current and emerging applications and technology.
  • Knowledge of current applications security practices and technology.
  • Skill in analyzing and responding to user requests.
  • Skill in writing technical and functional documentation.
  • Skill in developing and implementing test plans for applications.

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with others, including application vendor and information technology professionals, to troubleshoot, isolate and resolve complex client/server issues.
  • Attention to detail with ability to clearly define problems and use appropriate methods to determine and implement solutions.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to effectively communicate and work with a diverse community of faculty, staff, and students.
  • Demonstrated desire to continuously develop knowledge and skills related to the position.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Five years of experience in programming applications systems using relevant technologies and programming languages; OR, an Associate’s degree in Computer Science or related field AND four years of experience in programming applications systems using relevant technologies and programming languages; OR, Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field AND two years of experience in programming applications systems using relevant technologies and programming languages; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years demonstrated experience in the installation, configuration, maintenance and support of an enterprise application.
  • 3+ years hands on experience working with vendors, co-workers and customers to troubleshoot, test and resolve complex technical issues (desktop and server hardware and software).
  • 3 + years of experience in troubleshooting processes/configurations and correcting issues that may be procedural, operational or technical in nature.
  • ITIL experience a plus for managing incidents, service levels and vendor management.
