Position Summary | The Department of Pathology at the University of Arizona College of Medicine seeks applicants for a faculty position who will provide leadership of and serve as Medical Director for the Clinical and Molecular Microbiology Laboratory. The ideal candidate, therefore, should have strong clinical and analytical skills as well as excellent communication, organization, interpersonal, leadership, and teaching skills. Expertise in diagnostic clinical and molecular microbiology and a track record of academic accomplishment, including peer-reviewed publications and interest in teaching, is preferred. In addition, an ability to assist in other diagnostic areas of Clinical Pathology is desired. The Faculty of the Department of Pathology play a key role in supporting the mission of the College of Medicine and Banner University Medical Center – Tucson (BUMC-T), to bring about better health and improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases for the people of Arizona and beyond through education, research, and patient care. The successful candidate will combine teaching and clinical activities and provide leadership in all aspects of the Clinical and Molecular Microbiology at BUMC-T. BUMC-T is a 463-bed general medical and surgical facility with more than 25,000 admissions, 70,000 ED visits, and 14,000 inpatient and outpatient surgeries on an annual basis. BUMCT is a level 1 trauma center and is also home to the NCI-designated Cancer Center, which performs cutting edge research and patient care, including bone marrow and stem cell transplantations. BUMC-T also performs solid organ transplants including heart, lung, kidney, kidney/pancreas and liver.
