The AZ Student Unions, is seeking a full-time Cook, Entree to join our team. This position is located in the production kitchen at the Arizona Student Unions and performs advanced food preparation and production for food service units.

This is an academic year position. The current academic year is August 14, 2017 through May 20, 2018. Employee will be off for the summer months.

The Arizona Student Unions consist of both the Student Union Memorial Center (SUMC) and the Park Student Union, as well as Highland Market and a number of convenience stores and food stops around campus. In addition to campus dining services and catering, the Arizona Student Unions also run mall scheduling, concessions at athletic events, Fast Copy & Design, the Union Galleries, Games Room, the Gallagher Theatre, a Wells Fargo, and a Post Office Contract Unit.

The Student Union Memorial Center is one of the largest student unions in the United States. At a size of 405,000 square feet, SUMC contains everything students need – restaurants, retail spaces, lounges, study/meeting rooms, a computer lab, art gallery, and a movie theater. SUMC is often referred to as the “living room” of the University. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepares products according to recipes
  • Ensures products are completed timely
  • Maintains quality and freshness of products at all times
  • Prevents cross contamination of food products
  • Ensures food items are labeled and stored properly
  • Ensures counters, work stations, walls, shelves, drain screen and floor mats are properly cleaned
  • Ensures all utensils are cleaned and stored properly
  • Any other duties as assigned by Lead or Supervisor
  • Provides quality customer service to both internal and external customers.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently reaches, bends, stoops, lifts, shakes, stirs, pours, carries and pushes
  • Often withstands large workload under high heat
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • General knowledge of weights and measures
  • Working knowledge of food service operations including large quantity food preparation
  • Experience in operating various institutional/commercial kitchen equipment
  • Skill in following oral and written instruction
  • Must be able to read and speak English
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Two years of commercial or institutional cooking experience; OR, any combination of experience, training and/or education.
