Position Summary

This position will be affiliated with the Arizona School Based Dental Sealant Program. The Oral Health Assistant will assist a dental hygienist in oral health screenings, oral health education and application of dental sealants. They will lift (50 lbs.), transport and set up portable dental equipment, maintain the clinical settings to meet OSHA standards, and maintain portable equipment. This position will help prepare supplies needed for the dental sealant program as well as assist the participating children to and from the classrooms. This position will also record oral health findings and prepare necessary forms to the parent, school and State with accuracy. There will be travel required throughout the greater-Cochise County area. Willing to train the right candidate.

This position is headquartered at 1140 N. Colombo Sierra Vista AZ and Douglas, AZ. A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation is required upon employment.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist with Oral Health screenings to children throughout Cochise County.
  • Assist with the application of fluoride varnish and dental sealants to children throughout Cochise County.
  • Educate children on healthy oral health habits for themselves and their family.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  • Follow HIPAA, OSHA, and FERPA requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • A valid driver’s license with the ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy and access to reliable transportation is required upon employment.
  • Ability to lift and set up portable dental equipment (50 lbs).
  • Ability to effectively work with children.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Use of dental procedures.
  • Knowledge or experience of health related field.
  • Knowledge of teaching principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of community health, social agencies and children’s programs.
  • Ability to follow required technical materials.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
