Position Summary

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery has an open position for a tenure-track faculty, at the associate or professor level, with expertise in Orthopaedic Research. This individual will also serve as Director of Orthopaedic Research. Specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to, Orthopaedic Biomaterials, Orthopaedic Biomechanics, or Musculoskeletal Tissue Engineering.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Establish a strong, high-visibility program of high-quality, externally-funded research.
  • Teach courses in Biomedical Engineering and/or Physiological Sciences.
  • Actively contribute to an environment that nurtures collaboration between Orthopaedic Surgery and other departments/colleges across the University of Arizona campus.
  • Mentor undergraduates, graduates students, medical students and orthopaedic residents.
  • Collaborate with faculty in the Orthopaedic Surgery Department.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctorate in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, or other Engineering or Science discipline with an emphasis on basic or translational bioscience.
  • Proven experience providing clear evidence of developing a strong, externally-funded research program.
  • Ability to teach effectively at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
  • Must meet University of Arizona criteria for appointment to a tenure track senior level faculty position.

  • Expertise in working with diverse communities.
