This position serves as a member of the University Development Program (UDP) Human Resources & Talent Management team.

The Talent Acquisition Specialists for the UDP are responsible for leading proactive inbound and outbound recruitment strategies, attract candidates and fill development positions to support the growth and evolution of the University of Arizona Development Program. This individual will cultivate relationships; develop inclusive, innovative, and effective recruitment practices; and manage the talent acquisition and on-boarding process resulting in the attraction and retention of the highest qualified candidates for position openings. Through successful recruitment this position will advance the ability of the UDP to increase fundraising and elevate overall performance.

The incumbents will work collaboratively with all UDP departments to discuss strategy and efficiency of each search, build recruitment collateral to include interview guides, videos, ads and brochures, and other tasks as required. This position will be expected to make regional recruiting trips to proactively build relationships with fundraising professionals nationwide as well as travel to conferences and fundraising events to represent the University of Arizona Development Program. This position will also manage social media recruitment will include the use of LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and other relevant sources and will be responsible for talent acquisition reporting, metrics and HR & TM-related projects.

Duties & Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Screen and interview applicants for open positions and schedule qualified candidates to interview with hiring managers, internal search committees, and campus partners. Serve as primary contact for candidate throughout the interview process and provide candidate and overview of position, organization and process. Keep candidates and hiring managers informed of progress.
  • Develop a strategy for candidate pipeline development and sourcing by utilizing all available tools, including UA and UAF website, social media, job boards, employee referrals, recruiting tools, agency and vendors.
  • Assist Director, Talent Development with continued assessment of a positive on-boarding process in partnership with the hiring manager to provide a comprehensive and tailored experience to each new hire that facilitates assimilation through the first 90 days of employment. Responsibilities include: scheduling, system training, designation of mentors, etc.
  • Interact with college units, alumni groups and other strategic partners as necessary
  • Track and present metrics on candidate sourcing efforts. Present metrics to leadership as needed.
  • Assist UDP HR & TM staff in reviewing salary data and performing market compensation analysis.
  • Local, statewide and national travel will be expected to network with candidates and attend professional fundraising conferences to conduct recruitment activities.
  • Create and manage an applicant tracking system as needed for both UA and UAF candidates.Maintain requisitions and job postings in applicant tracking system and in UAccess. Assist with testing and implementation of alternative application tracking systems or other HR tools and systems.
  • Participate in initiatives designed to identify and attract the best candidates for the organization. This includes, but is not limited to employment branding initiatives, sourcing initiatives, strategic staffing initiatives, etc.
  • Leverage knowledge and experience to support learning and development needs of hiring managers and employees through providing advice, guidance, and training support for topics including but not limited to; social media usage, proper HR & TM systems access and use, behavioral interviewing.
  • Contribute to the overall activities of UDP HR & TM.
  • Occasional state and national travel will be required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Have a basic understanding of employment laws, with a solid understanding of legal/illegal pre-employment inquiries and behavioral interviewing techniques is required.
  • Excellent planning, time management, communication, decision making, presentation, organization and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and Internet applications.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize complex projects and plans to deliver results.
  • Develop a passion and enthusiasm for the University and the mission of the UDP and recruiting.
  • Determined and results driven.
  • The ability to speak and write persuasively, listen effectively and engage in meaningful partnerships with both internal and external constituencies.
  • A commitment to advance diversity within the UDP and across the University of Arizona campus.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Three to five years of experience in professional recruitment and/or fundraising development.
  • Demonstrated success in cultivating, developing and enhancing professional relationships.
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field;
  • Experience with recruitment reporting, metrics and workforce planning.
  • Experience with workforce planning, sustainability and employer branding.
  • Recruiting or HR certifications (i.e. PHR, PRC, CIR, CDR).
  • Experience in or knowledge of higher education fundraising.
  • Excellent knowledge of recruiting techniques and employment policies and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
