Position Summary

The Extension Program Assistant will recruit, teach and work with limited income families/individuals in Pinal County on the improvement of nutrition, health and home management practices.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Identify and recruit limited income families/individuals within assigned geographic area.
  • Become knowledgeable in identified curriculum and material.
  • Plan and prepare teaching materials.
  • Use prescribed curriculum to teach families, individuals, groups in the area of nutrition education and related disciplines.
  • Implement pre/post assessment for all program participants.
  • Maintain records of statistical data and progress of families.
  • Maintain and complete all forms required by the University of Arizona.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Ability to work and teach individuals, families and groups.
  • Ability to follow identified curriculum.
  • Ability to work well with others.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Access to reliable transportation with the ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, nights and weekends.
Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications
  • One year of instructional leadership, volunteer development or community organization experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
  • Possession of a current Arizona Type D driver’s license upon employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching and working with individuals, families and groups.
  • Computer skills
  • Familiarity with Pinal County.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
