Position Summary

The University of Arizona Health Sciences (UAHS) is currently accepting applications for Research Interns. The successful candidate is expected to perform laboratory experiments for a funded research program in UAHS. This position supports graduate training in various disciplinary or multidisciplinary campus departments in any of the colleges or units of UAHS.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform independent experiments and carry out laboratory research.
  • Perform experiments that may include behavioral, cellular, immunological, microbiological, molecular, physiological and/or virological assays.
  • Perform experimental animal surgery, tissue culture or modeling studies.
  • Perform analysis using microscopy, imaging or behavioral approaches.
  • Maintain detailed records of experiments, analyzing and writing up results, and troubleshooting.
  • Design experiments and contribute to the preparation of research posters, manuscripts and grant applications, as needed.
  • There may be additional duties assigned as it relates to the position.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduate student currently enrolled and accepted into the Clinical Translational Sciences PhD graduate program at the University of Arizona.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related area.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of cancer biology, immunology, neuroscience, or physiology are preferred.
  • Adept at basic computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and an ability to learn statistical and graphing programs (such as Prism Graph Pad, Adobe Photoshop, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently under PI supervision.
