Position Summary

Instructional Aides work directly with children in a classroom setting. Assistants are responsible for supporting our program goals of creating and maintaining a safe and high quality learning environment which addresses all areas of a child’s development.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Maintain NAC accreditation standards.
• Help train parent volunteers and U of A students.
• Supervise children and in maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming environment.
• Assist with formal and informal assessments on children.
• Assist with the weekly lesson plan.
• Keep program materials and supplies organized, neat and in good repair.
• Follow all program policies and procedures.
• Maintain 1st Aid and CPR certification.
• Ensure that the environment is safe and clean at all times.

Minimum Qualifications

Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

One year of instructional aide or related experience; OR any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years prior work experience with children under the age of 5.
• Currently enrolled or willing to enroll in Early Childhood Education classes.
• Experience working in a center based early childhood program.
• Knowledge of Quality First and state licensing rules and regulations.
• AA in Early Childhood, CDA or the equivalent.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish.
• Experience working with children under the age of 5 demonstrating delays in their Speech and Language development.
