Position Summary

This is an hourly, on-call position as an Athletic Trainer in the University of Arizona Athletics training room. The position will be 14.8 – 19.6 hours, or less, per week and offers no benefits. Prospective candidates must be licensed with the State of Arizona as a health care professional who provides athletic training services for intercollegiate student-athletes. This on-call position will assist the Sports Medicine staff in providing care for student-athletes on as as-needed basis. The Technical Expert, Athletic Trainer position reports to the Associate Athletic Director for Medical Services and the Head Team Physician.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, manage, and treat injuries incurred by all UA student-athletes as indicated.
  • Provide athletic training coverage to athletes as assessed by the Associate Athletic Director for Medical Services.
  • Communicate the medical status of team members with appropriate personnel.
  • Assist with daily operations of the Kasser Medical Treatment Center as assigned by the Associate Athletic Director for Medical Services.
  • Provide appropriate supervision of student technicians.
  • Maintain knowledge of and observe pertinent OSHA regulations to minimize the risk of transmission of blood-borne pathogens.
  • Complete and maintain comprehensive legal records associate with injury evaluation, treatment, and referral of all athletes under direct care.
  • Instruction and supervision of any persons who may use the facilities including but not limited to University of Arizona student-athletes and staff, visiting student-athletes and non-student athletes.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • National Athletic Trainer’s Association Certification.
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • Eligibility for Arizona Athletic Training License.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree.
  • Full-time Division I Athletic Training experience.
