Position Summary

The University of Arizona’s Department of Mining and Geological Engineering (MGE) invites applicants for full or part-time, non-tenure-eligible, multiyear-renewable-term faculty positions at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Practice, to begin in August 2017. Position title and salary will be based on the qualifications of the selected candidate. This is a fiscal year appointment.

Duties & Responsibilities

The department has teaching needs in a number of areas, including mine design, geomechanics, mineral processing, and a new executive training program. Duties include:

  • Teaching both on-campus and online students.
  • Preparing on-campus and online course materials.
  • Participating in field trips and other forms of active engagement with students.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD or M.S. in Mining Engineering or related field.
  • Three years of experience in mining or related industry.
  • Some management experience.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
  • Strong commitment to teaching at the University of Arizona and to student engagement.
  • Ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in Mining Engineering.
  • Applicants with only a Masters degree should have a strong desire to continue their education at the University of Arizona and pursue a PhD degree.
