Position Summary

The University of Arizona Health Sciences Library (AHSL) seeks an innovative, enthusiastic, service-oriented professional as an Instructional Services Librarian. The incumbent will work with AHSL liaison librarians in the Colleges of Public Health, Nursing, Pharmacy and Medicine in the planning, coordination and delivery of online instruction to both onsite and online health sciences faculty, staff and students. This position will work closely with the instructional librarians within the University of Arizona Libraries, as well as others specializing in the digital delivery of library services. This is a continuing-eligible or continuing track, academic professional position. Incumbents are members of the general faculty and are entitled to all accompanying rights and privileges granted by the Arizona Board of Regents and the University of Arizona. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Work with Arizona Health Sciences Library (AHSL) colleagues to develop online instructional materials, tools and presentations based upon specific course curriculum and educational goals
  • Using web-based and traditional classroom methods, develop information literacy tools for use on the health sciences campus.
  • Engage in collaboration with colleagues in AHSL to improve the delivery of library instruction, online tutorials and guides for students and faculty in online and off-site programs in the Colleges of Public Health, Pharmacy and Nursing.
  • Maintain current knowledge and skills related to technologies and trends in distance learning and library services. Proactively seek new ways to utilize technologies to improve instruction.
  • Collaborate and work closely with University of Arizona Libraries instructional librarians in the development and deployment of new online instructional tools.
  • Provide training to AHSL librarians in the use of effective online and classroom-based instructional tools and information resources.
  • Other duties assigned as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution or other relevant field.
  • High degree of computer/digital fluency in relation to the use of instructional/educational software.
  • Experience in health sciences or academic setting.
  • Evidence of potential for earning continuing status as a University of Arizona Library Faculty member.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with faculty on course content, tutorial or assessment design and developing educational programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy in Higher Education.
