Position Summary

The University of Arizona Health Sciences Library (UAHSL) seeks an enthusiastic, innovative, service-oriented professional as the Mel & Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health Liaison Librarian. The liaison librarian position offers the opportunity to collaborate with other liaison librarians in the Colleges of Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy, as well as the UAHSL instructional librarians to develop and deliver information services to the Mel & Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health. This is a continuing-eligible or continuing track, academic professional position. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver information services to MEZCOPH faculty, students, staff and researchers involved in instruction, scholarship and research.
  • Conduct accurate, comprehensive literature searches within health sciences, medical and scientific databases and information resources. Special emphasis on coverage of those issues related to environmental sciences, border health, epidemiology, biostatistics, health promotion, occupational health and health policy.
  • Provide classroom-based training for PubMed, PsycInfo, Google Scholar, EndNote and other information resources. Work closely with MEZCOPH faculty to develop course content closely aligned with curriculum goals.
  • Actively engage in collaborative research including systematic reviews with MEZCOPH faculty.
  • Promote library services and resources, provide orientations for new faculty, students and staff and serve on committees within the College as needed.
  • Work with the Instructional Services Librarian to provide support to students and faculty in the Online MPH Program.
  • Collaborate with Outreach Librarian to support outreach efforts of the College.
  • Collaborate and work closely with University of Arizona Libraries liaison librarians, archivists and specialists in order to provide the broadest possible range of services to MEZCOPH constituencies.
  • Other duties assigned as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution or other relevant field.
  • Advanced degree coursework or experience in health information delivery, including database searching, finding quality information on the Internet and experience with automated library systems.
  • Evidence of potential for earning continuing status as a University of Arizona Library Faculty member.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in health sciences, academic or public health setting.
  • Understanding of social determinants of health.
  • Spanish language proficiency.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative and flexibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects.
  • Enthusiasm for teaching.
  • Interest in developing advanced competencies.
