University Information Technology Services (UITS) seeks to fill a position for a Web Site Designer / Developer. The successful applicant will be responsible for the design of mobile responsive websites and applications managed by Campus Web Services. The position also provides customer service support to sites supported by Campus Web Services.

Duties & Responsibilities

•Creates and maintains website layout and design, and works with tools to improve design.
•Assesses usability and accessibility of web site designs. Designs web sites for use by individuals with a range of visual, auditory, motor/mobility and cognitive abilities.
•Collaborates with clients and cross-campus teams, such as the UA Digital and UA Creative teams to identify and develop graphic requirements, and improve styling using web best practices and UA branding.
•Maintains and edits content and graphic media such as photographs, video and other visual design elements.
•Participates as a team member in web design projects for a variety of UITS web and mobile applications.
•Designs icons and comps using Adobe Creative Suite also create in HTML and CSS, with ability to embed in Drupal sites.
•Assists with designing mobile and web site information architecture, using site mapping capabilities and storyboarding.
•Ensures mobile applications and websites are mobile responsive across common devices.
•Participates as a team member and contributes to process improvement, documentation and training.
•Participates in site testing and reporting. Some occasional site testing and support occurs remotely outside of regular business hours.
•Ability to work in high paced environment balancing multiple projects, while maintaining a commitment to quality and respect for clients.
•Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

•Knowledge of web site architecture, and familiarity with Bootstrap, GIT, and Drupal.
•Skill in editing web site content and/or the use of graphic design and layout tools.
•Skill in consulting with users regarding web site design issues.
•Skill in designing usable, mobile and accessible web sites and/or original graphics.
•Ability to work with diverse team members/users.
•Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Three years of progressively responsible web site design and/or development experience; OR, an Associate’s degree in a related field AND two years of web site design and/or development experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications

•Experience with current web site graphics and/or development software, such as Adobe Creative Suite, HTML and CSS.
