Position Summary

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of Arizona is seeking a highly motivated individual for a part-time research scientist position. The successful candidate will participate in the development of parallel and distributed computational models, algorithms for several scientific and engineering applications. In particular, the candidate will work on the development of 3D electrophysiological computational modeling of cardiac tissue, and may assist in graduate and undergraduate courses, and supervise graduate and undergraduate student research projects. The successful applicant should demonstrate a professional commitment and interest in research and mentoring college students.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Participate and develop innovative approaches in system design, development and control
  • Participate in the customization processes of the 3D computational models;
  • Apply mathematical numerical analysis techniques to enhance and control computational efficiency;
  • Apply detailed electrophysiological mathematical models in the computations;
  • Assist in managing the research project (communication, organization, reporting, time and quality management);
  • Participate in the writing of research manuscripts and presentations;
  • Assist in graduate and undergraduate courses.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Information system design and control, Information Security’
  • Solution of 3D PDEs numerically, experience in Finite Element method;
  • Mathematical numerical analysis;
  • Experience in the field of Electrophysiology,
  • Computational modeling and simulation.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctorate in Physics or Mathematics or Electrical and Computer Engineering;
  • Five years of experience in computational physics research;
  • Experience in the field of electrophysiology,
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in IT development, information system design and control;
  • Strong background in computational modeling and simulation, and experience in computational physics is strongly preferred;
  • Experience in solving 3D PDEs numerically, experience in Finite Element method;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Mathematical Numerical Analysis;
  • Demonstrated knowledge in Information Security;
  • Demonstrated experience in Project Management.
