Position Summary

University Information Technology Services, within The University of Arizona, is accepting applications for an Applications Systems Analyst/Developer or Applications Systems Analyst/Developer, Sr. for the UITS Tools and Utilities team. We are looking for a detail oriented, self-motivated, positive, friendly individual to join an energetic team who supports a wide portfolio of applications such as Jira, Confluence, Cherwell, Pinnacle, and our Emergency Warning System (EWS).

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Application, System & Security administration.
  • User Administration & Permissions.
  • Support and troubleshoot issues experienced by application users.
  • Design, develop, test and implement tools that interface with applications to improve functionality.
  • Create and maintain detailed technical, training and user facing documentation.
  • Work with users to document business, functional, and technical requirements.
  • Work with third party vendors on installation, configuration, and support issues.
  • Create comprehensive JIRA workflows including project workflows, screen schemes, permission schemes, and notification schemes based on customer requirements.
  • Configure and setup Cherwell application modules. Establish system parameters and formats; ensure software compatibility, and coordinate and/or modify user requirements in terms of existing and projected system capacity and capabilities.

Additional duties for Applications Systems Analyst/Developer, Senior position:

  • Analyze, review, and document current functionality to determine potential areas of improvement.
  • Manage large projects & initiatives.
  • Test and upgrade to new versions of the applications.
  • Provide training to technical and non-technical teams for all applications.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including analysis and correction of root causes beyond simple identification of immediate issues.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic often changing environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team player, with strong interpersonal skills who can work on a team as well as independently as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Development experience with Java, PHP or Python.
  • Experience with multiple versions of Windows/Unix and administration experience.
  • Experience with various databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL or MYSQL.
Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

To be considered at the level of Applications Systems Analyst/Developer:

  • Three years of experience in programming applications systems using current technology and programming languages; OR, Associate’s degree in Computer Science or related field AND two years of applications systems programming experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

To be considered at the level of Applications Systems Analyst/Developer, Senior:

  • Five years of experience in programming applications systems using relevant technologies and programming languages; OR, an Associate’s degree in Computer Science or related field AND four years of experience in programming applications systems using relevant technologies and programming languages; OR, Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field AND two years of experience in programming applications systems using relevant technologies and programming languages; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Java/ JavaScript / Web HTML technologies.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms / environments / APIs.
  • Exposure to Agile Methodologies.
  • Experience working in a highly collaborative environment ensuring solution meets the needs of a diverse and broad audience.
  • Have experience with ITSM/ITIL level ticketing systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities with tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and share knowledge with contacts at all levels.
  • Ability to appropriately implement policies and procedures.
  • Excellent decision-making, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Detail-oriented.
