The Department of Physiology in the College of Medicine at the University of Arizona seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position (tenure-track), in the area of renal and vascular physiology and pathophysiology starting as early as January 1, 2018.

The ideal candidate will deploy a variety of advanced methods including (for example) genetic, cell biological, imaging, computational, in vivo or bioengineering approaches to understand the interaction of renal and vascular mechanisms in the function of the renal and cardiovascular systems and hypertension. Responsibilities include the development of a funded research program, collaboration with other investigators in the Department of Physiology, teaching of undergraduate, graduate, and medical students in topics relevant to their areas of expertise and mentoring students.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop a funded research program and publish in peer reviewed journals.
  • Collaborate with investigators in the Department of Physiology.
  • Teach in the Physiology undergraduate program, graduate program and in the medical school.
  • Contribute to mentoring students.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Strong knowledge base in renal physiology, cardiovascular physiology or a related field.
  • Research competence in a related area and ability as an independent investigator.
  • Competence in scientific communication that includes writing and lecturing.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctorate degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment.
  • At least (2) two years of postdoctoral experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Significant publication record.
  • History of extramural research funding.
  • Research experience related to studies on renal, vascular or cardiovascular mechanisms.
  • Competence using advanced research techniques to study mammalian physiology.
  • Excellent communication skills including written and oral presentations.
  • Interest in teaching and willingness to provide research training of undergraduate students, graduate students, and medical students.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with others.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
