Position Summary

Provides information and facilitates traffic flow and parking accommodations for a Special Event. Provides visitors with parking options and information regarding event and concurrent campus activities. May act as a Fee Collector and handle money, vend tickets, and transact accurate change.

This position offers shifts at various times of the day and week, including evenings and weekends.

Position requires ability to stand for long periods of time and handle inclement weather.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Sets up assigned position, intersection, parking lot, or garage according to directions given by the Area Supervisor. Assesses assigned position to confirm the status of barricades, signs, and decals at the beginning of position control.
  • Remains at post and stays visible, alert and provides information pertaining to the event to parkers and all other traffic that enters area of control.
  • Screens permit holders to facilitate Reserved Parking.
  • Allows interim parking for visitors and other campus users according to directions given by supervisor.
  • Discerns the need of special groups or individual parkers that have not made prior arrangements and conveys this requirement to supervisor.
  • Provides supervisor or dispatch with any significant status changes that occurs in area of control.
  • Completes breakdown requirements as instructed by supervisor.
  • May collect money, vend tickets and transact change for assigned area. Directs parkers to alternate areas if assigned area fills up.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of campus building locations and parking areas.
  • Knowledge of Event Parking Plan and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for assigned area.
  • Skill in courteous communication with the public.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Skill in handling and counting cash.
  • Ability to follow basic radio protocol and follow established safety protocols.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and handle inclement weather.

Cash handling experience if working as fee collector OR any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
