Position Summary

The Classroom Technology Services team, a division of University Information Technology Services, is accepting applications for the position of Multi-Media Instructional Support Technician. The team is responsible for installing, maintaining, and supporting technology in the 243 centrally scheduled classrooms. Team members also provide training, technical advice, and assistance to instructors.
Please note: This position is Monday – Friday 7:00 – 4:00 and one Saturday per month and occasional overtime on nights and weekends.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Installs, maintains, and operates state of the art audio/video/multi-media instructional equipment used to support a wide variety of instructional methods and techniques across many academic disciplines.
• Provides training, technical advice, and assistance to faculty, graduate assistants, and staff regarding equipment capabilities for specific instructional applications.
• Responds to urgent calls for immediate assistance; troubleshoots and resolves technical issues with classroom equipment and software quickly.
• Configures instructional software (e.g., Panopto, Doceri, Adobe Connect) for instructors and faculty using the centrally scheduled classrooms.
• Assist instructors and faculty with the use of Instructional software in the classroom (e.g., Panopto, Turning Tech, Adobe Connect).
• Identifies and resolves audio or video issues; collaborates with CTS team members to resolve more complicated issues.
• Researches emerging trends in multi-media instructional equipment and develops collaborative recommendations for the selection and implementation of multi-media instructional equipment for classroom renovations.
• Plans, organizes, leads, and participates in equipment installation and upgrades; connects, interfaces, and tests installed equipment.
• Contacts and communicates with vendors when instructional technology malfunctions cannot be resolved.
• Programs electronic door locks.
• Delivers and sets up reserved supplemental equipment in classrooms within specified timeframe.
• Routinely cleans and maintains instructional equipment and teaching stations in the classrooms. Maintenance includes using the computer interface to verify audio and video connections, changing projection lamps, trouble shooting, soldering, connecting or replacing cables, and adjusting audio and video output quality. Replaces consumables (e.g., batteries, light bulbs) in the classrooms.
• Coordinates with Room Scheduling unit to reserve rooms that require equipment repair.
• Contacts instructors and informs them of any technological malfunctions in a scheduled room.
• Performs minor daily maintenance of assigned campus delivery vehicle and coordinates major repair/maintenance with team supervisor.
• Maintains instructional equipment inventory both in the classrooms and in satellite storerooms.

• Able to lift/carry 50 pounds and to work on ladders.
• Ability to follow instructions from team leads/supervisors.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.

Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Two years of any combination of technical training and experience operating, maintaining, and installing multi-media instructional equipment; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in an educational environment.
• Experience working with instructional technology equipment and software.
