Position Summary

The UITS Workshops and Training team develops and delivers end-user training for enterprise level systems at the University of Arizona. The IT Training Specialist participates in executing the vision and plan for training functional staff within campus departments and supports the work of the team by assisting in workshops and demonstrations, interacting with clients, managing and developing internal systems, and developing training materials.

A successful candidate will be an experienced software trainer and instructional designer, with strong communication skills to deliver technical information to a non-technical audience. In addition, the candidate will be well-organized, good-humored, attentive to detail, experienced in helping users manage and embrace change, and willing to learn and advocate new software and systems.

Please note: This position is a year to year appointment and is currently planned for a 2-year duration. Future workforce planning efforts and the availability of funding will determine if the position will continue beyond the initial 2-year period.

Duties & Responsibilities

•Develop and publish training materials using a variety of delivery mechanisms.
•Find new and innovative ways to provide effective training.
•Review and evaluate effectiveness of teaching methods and work activities.
•Update current online tutorials and create new tutorials in the application as applicable and appropriate.
•Assist in maintaining training environments for Enterprise application systems.
•Maintain current and develop new training content using tools such as Articulate Storyline.
•Manage third party training resources and promote them to campus users.
•Assist in developing and maintaining systems and processes for managing departmental workflow.
•Maintain department website and documentation.
•Assist in workshop preparation.

•Good working knowledge of training principles, practices, and procedures.
•Good working knowledge of principles of curriculum development.
•Knowledge of educational and training resources.
•Knowledge and technical experience in best practices for information technology training design and delivery.
•Good working knowledge with e-Learning content creation software.
•Self-motivated, proactive, independent, and responsive.
•Adept at working with diverse populations and able to communicate and translate effectively with and between different levels of technical and professional expertise.
•Experience helping users manage and embrace change.
•Adept at learning new software quickly.
•Able to thrive in a team environment and work collaboratively with a diverse range of people.

Minimum Qualifications

•Bachelor’s degree with 2 to 4 years of comparable experience

Preferred Qualifications

•Familiar with Oracle UPK.
•Experience with Articulate Storyline software.
•Familiar with the University of Arizona enterprise systems.
